About me

Who am I?

I am a native Austinite and a widowed mother of three young men, I know firsthand the depths of grief, loss, and the challenges life can present. The sudden, unexpected loss of my beloved husband in 2017 thrust me into a journey of profound self-discovery and healing. Instead of allowing myself to be consumed by despair, I turned my personal tribulations into a source of strength and purpose.

Driven by my own experiences, I found my calling in helping others navigate through their own struggles and uncertainties. My journey became not just a path to personal healing, but a passionate commitment to extending support and guidance to those grappling with life's unexpected twists and turns. Through my work as a licensed professional counselor (LPC), I hope to provide a sanctuary of understanding and acceptance for individuals seeking solace and direction.

Having earned my Master of Arts in Counseling at St Edward’s University, I bring both academic rigor and real-world wisdom to my practice. Currently, I serve as a therapist at a private university in Georgetown, where I dedicate myself to supporting the mental well-being of students across various facets of their lives. Whether it's navigating academic pressures, relationship struggles, or personal crises, I stand as an ally, guiding my clients towards a place of greater clarity, resilience, and fulfillment.

I whole heartedly embody the essence of compassion in action. Through my unwavering commitment to serving others, I am not only honoring the memory of my late husband, Victor, but also enriching the lives of countless individuals, empowering them to embrace life's uncertainties with courage and resilience.

My approach

My approach is multifaceted and integrative, drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each client.

  • Holistic approach considers all aspects of your being,  integrating your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions to gain a deeper understanding of your overall experience. In application, this involves blending mindfulness practices with conventional talk therapy to guide you through your journey of healing.
  •  I recognize that finding  a therapist who comprehends the nuances of navigating the world with marginalized identities and its effects on self-perception can be challenging. A Culturally Responsive and Inclusive approach embraces your identity, validating your cultural encounters, and nurturing your capabilities, aiming to assist you in addressing trauma stemming from oppression. My expertise lies in serving BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • You deserve to feel autonomous in your healing journey. A Client-Centered  approach is attuned to your needs and recognizes trust as a cornerstone of the client-therapist relationship. I work to build that trust and cultivate a collaborative space so that you are an active participant in the therapy process.
  • Trauma-Informed means I understand the signs, symptoms, and widespread impact of trauma. My approach uses various techniques, including EMDR, to help you process trauma in a safe and supportive environment while avoiding retraumatization.

In the wild

When I'm not engaged in therapy sessions, you'll often find me fulfilling my role as a mother to three bright and intelligent young men. They keep me on my toes, yet they also deeply motivate me, as I've consistently aimed to lead them by example through my own actions. Additionally, I am a member of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. which provides me with opportunities to actively engage in sisterly relations, community service, volunteer work, and outreach initiatives. I devote a portion of my time to volunteering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), actively engaging in various outreach programs aimed at providing support and raising awareness for mental health within the BIPOC community. Through these initiatives, I strive to offer assistance, promote understanding, and foster resilience among individuals facing mental health challenges, while also advocating for equitable access to resources and services. In my leisure time, I find joy by the water, immersing myself in music, dancing, spending time with family and friends, and embracing life with a mindful presence in the moment.
